Distraction Travel Unravel Part 1

Distraction Travel Unravel Part 1

In my previous blog, I alluded to weight loss without seemingly trying by distracting myself with travel. I’ll flesh out the idea a bit. It is not my intention to be evasive about what is involved its just there are, in my opinion, a fairly tight set of rules that apply. These rules then allow this easy to achieve personal growth (or reduction in the case of my weight).

In this short article I will talk about the key differences between how most go travelling vs what how we go travelling. Our travel provides us with such a fresh lease on life.

Firstly, we go for a month. 28 days or more. No less than one entire month will suffice.

You could go for longer. We have and will again, but 28 days plus is what you need. One very important element is to allow a fresh outlook. You can’t do this without completely disconnecting yourself from the life you normally lead, and you can’t do that in less than a month.

If you slip off a for a two or even three week break, a lot of the time is spent getting over the initial journey to get where you are going. The last few days are spent in remorse that you have to go home. The middle bit is spent getting all excited running around ticking off the boxes for things you really wanted to see This leaves perhaps a few days of stress free contemplation, sitting around and relaxing.

We do it somewhat differently leaving maximum time for all of those things. We have time to develop thoughts and ideas that are strangled by lack of time otherwise. We achieve simple stress reduction by not having to stick to some ridiculously tight travel schedule, staying in the one place and staying longer. In dead simple terms we fly and then drive to one place, stay there 28 days (no less) and then the reverse to get home. It’s almost like just living your normal life somewhere else except it isn’t. Not at all.

Lets look at some of the differences.

  • Not having to turn up at work at all
  • Going to an area where English is not spoken by the locals
  • Going to an area where there is little or no tourism (so no broken English)
  • Obviously not in our home country
  • In a different time zone
  • In a completely different culture
  • With a different kind of terrain
  • No ringing phones.
  • Emails can be dealt with once a day
  • Different food (read better food)
  • Driving on the other side of road

In short… everything is different.

Hence we are distracted. Distracted by all that surrounds us and needs our attention. New scenery, new food, new people, new language, new roads, new towns, new house..

So much to absorb and so much to be distracted by that habits and memories of our former life can start to fade quite quickly. Frankly you just don’t care.

Sounds simple? Well it sort of is but there are a lot of other aspects to making this distraction a success. Read my other blogs for more on how to lose weight from your body and clear your mind whilst eating and drinking as though you’re on holiday!
